How to make child custody exchanges safe for all

Having to live life under a child custody arrangement is not only difficult for you as the parent but also for your children. The arrangement could benefit both parents, but wind up hurting you more than the other parent. It all depends on how the exchange of custody is handled each time by both parents. Today, we will take a look at how to make the exchange of child custody safe for all parties involved.

Every exchange should be done at a neutral, safe location. This includes a firehouse, a police station, the public library or your child's school. This makes it less intimidating for the other parent when it is not handled in someone's home.

Have a neutral third party take part in the custody exchange. If at your child's school, this can be their teacher, the principal or the school nurse. If at the firehouse or police station, this can be a firefighter or police officer.

If you cannot play nice when in the presence of the other parent, you might want to consider backing out of the custody exchange. Ask a third party to make the exchange for you. This can be a teacher, family member, friend, neighbor or anyone else who your child trusts.

Every child custody exchange should be done at an arranged time and make sure you are never late, especially when you are bringing your child. This will only upset the other parent.

Exchanging child custody doesn't have to be stressful or overwhelming. If you follow the tips above, you should have no trouble with exchanging custody and your children should feel safe when going from one parent to the other.
