6 people hospitalized after 7-car pileup in Germantown

Authorities are trying to determine how a Germantown car accident led to a seven-car pileup. The incident happened on a recent Tuesday evening at approximately 6:00 p.m. Officers responded shortly after the collision to discover six seriously injured persons that required hospital care.

While unsure of how the accident happened, authorities do know that it involved a Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Toyota Prius, a Dodge Charger, a Nissan Pathfinder, a Toyota Camry, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Honda Civic. The vehicles were at a red light when the collision took place for unknown reasons.

The most seriously injured people in the crash were a 43-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman, a 13-year-old boy, a 41-year-old driver, a 2-year-old girl and an 11-month-old baby. All six of these victims were reported to have serious injuries requiring hospital care. An additional person, with non-life threatening injuries was a 38-year-old man. Fortunately, no one lost their lives in this tragic accident.

Police were seeking witnesses to the accident to fill in the gaps in their information. They requested that anyone with information come forward to provide their version of what took place.

Whenever a complicated accident involving multiple cars happens on a Maryland roadway, law enforcement officers will do their best to determine exactly what happened. This way, at-fault parties can be brought to both criminal and civil justice. State prosecutors will generally hold the at-fault party responsible in criminal court. Meanwhile, it's up to victims to come forward and assert financial claims to hold the at-fault party responsible in civil court. A skilled personal injury lawyer can be very helpful in this process.
